BORA Business Suite - System Requirements

BORA Business Suite (BORA BS) is an application working in Microsoft Windows operating system enviroinment and using Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Software requirements

The following software is required in order to use BORA Business Suite:

• Operating Systems supported: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022; Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11;

• Databases supported: Microsoft SQL Server (including free Microsoft SQL Server Express) versions 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022;
• Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (if part of Windows - it can be added through Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features - Turn Windows features on or off - .NET Framework 3.5)
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 (if part of Windows - it can be added through Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features - Turn Windows features on or off - .NET Framework 4.x)
• Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types Prerequisite for installing Microsoft Report Viewer Runtime     x86 - SQLSysClrTypes (for 32-bit Operating System)     x64 - SQLSysClrTypes (for 64-bit Operating System)
• Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 Runtime Used in some of the reports from the system.
• 2010 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components (or a.k.a. Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable) Required for export from some reports in BORA BS in case when MS Office 2007 or newer version is not installed or this option is not installed during MS Office installation. BORA BS uses x86 (32-bit) version of this component, so always install x86 (32-bit) version even on x64 (64-bit) Windows installations.
• Microsoft Office Optional. Required when using functionalities for document export with automatic template filling in MS Office format.

Hardware requirements

The hardware requirements to a server for BORA Business Suite depend on the functionalities used as well as on the number of users, the type of installation and other, so a unique specification is recommended for every specific case. Generally, a separate server for database together with BORA BS server and a separate server(s) for BORA BS client (with Remote Desktop Services) and/or client workstations with a locally installed BORA BS client are used. For smaller installations, all roles can be unified and installed on a single server.

Minimum hardware requirements to a database server (MS SQL Server) and BORA Business Suite server (BORA BS server):

• Hardware must meet the minimum requirements for the supported operating system;
• Processor: 1.4G Hz or faster;
• Memory: 16 GB;
• Hard disk space: the required for the operating system + 8 GB disk space for installation of SQL Server + 2 GB for database of 1 GB + 2 GB disk space for installation of BORA BS application server (e.g. for database up to 1 GB = ~100 GB total).

Minimum hardware requirements to a server for BORA Business Suite client (using RDS terminal services):

• Hardware must meet the minimum requirements for the supported operating system;
• Processor: 1.4G Hz or faster;
• Memory: 8 GB + 300 MB memory for each instance/user of the application (for 30 users = ~ + 9 GB);
• Hard disk space: the required for the operating system + 1 GB disk space for installation of BORA BS client + ~100 MB disk space for each application user (for 30 users = ~ + 3 GB).

Minimum hardware requirements to a local client for BORA Business Suite (using RDS terminal services):

• Hardware must meet the minimum requirements for the supported operating system;

Minimum hardware requirements to a local client for BORA Business Suite (not using RDS terminal services):

• Hardware must meet the minimum requirements for the supported operating system;
• Processor: 1.4 GHz or faster;
• Memory: 2 GB + 300 MB for each additional instance of the application;
• Hard disk space: 500 MB free hard disk space for installation.
